MILLEFIORE CLARKES

Millefiore Clarkes is an award-winning filmmaker and editor from Canada’s smallest province, Epekwitk/Prince Edward Island. She is committed to making work that speaks to place, community and the human relationship to nature. She is most compelled by a hands-on approach to filmmaking, and often creates pieces alone or with a small team of collaborators. Her greatest joy is in the edit suite where she weaves imagery and sound more by instinct than outline.

She has created an array of media works: documentaries, experimental shorts, music videos, and video installations. She is the recipient of the 2019 DOC Institute’s Vanguard Award, WIFT-AT’s Wave Award in 2024, and The City of Charlottetown’s Artistic Excellence Award in 2026.

Her films have screened at festivals internationally and been broadcast nationally and have won a number of awards including 'Best Atlantic Documentary' at Lunenburg Doc Fest and 'Best Atlantic Documentary' at AIFF for The Song and the Sorrow, as well as 'Best of the Fest' at Yorkton Film Festival for Evelyn. She has directed four short to mid-length documentaries with The National Film Board of Canada, and is currently in production on two independent feature docs.

She works to create a thriving film community in her home province and region and is involved in organizing screening, professional development, and artistic opportunities for both emerging and established filmmakers.
