It's one thing to make a film and enitrely another to get it out in the world. I do love the Vimeo route - make it, post it, watch the hit-counter. But the more traditional appoach - where one spends hours filling out application forms, uploading files through archaic portals, and spending good hard cash on the possibility of a possibility - I'm talking film festival submissions... well... there's something to that too. And I suppose that something can be summed up in one word: cred (ibility).
So - this Fall just past - these fine festivals gave One Thousand Flowers some screen time:
The Hamilton Film Festival screened Little Bay Islands.
The Charlottetown Film Festival screened Islands.
There. Affirmation that if I'm not on entirely the right track, I'm not entirely on the wrong one either.
Oh! And my newest offering: Frost in the Hollows - a music video for Catherine MacLellan. I'm also working with Catherine on a new documentary for the NFB... more on that later...
